The Orange1 Electric Motors division is known worldwide for the production of explosion proof motors approved by ATEX, IECEx and EAC for installations in hazardous areas.
The Orange1 flameproof and explosion proof motors are asynchronous modular aluminum motors, with a squirrel cage rotor and a wound stator. They are protected and externally ventilated. The range includes three-phase Atex motors at 1 or 2 speeds with possible inverter drive and single-phase motors.
The Atex Orange1 series of electric motors can have the following types of protection: Ex db, Ex db eb and Ex tb suitable for operating in gaseous environments, explosive vapors and combustible dust. Atex Enhanced Safety Ex, Explosion-proof and Anti Theft Ex na.
The Atex electric motors with increased safety and the Orange1 non-sparking motors are manufactured in compliance with European regulations on equipment for potentially flammable and explosive atmospheres. They are in line with the European Directive ATEX 2014/34/EU and also with the IECEx regulation.

An electric motor in a hazardous area may be considered explosion-proof or flameproof if it contains a possible explosion without endangering the whole industrial plant.
Explosion proof motors for hazardous areas must be officially approved and certified by a test body in order to ensure their regulatory compliance. Atex certified motors are classified into the categories and protection types which are defined in their applicable standards.
In addition to that, the increased safety motors prevent sparks or arcs from forming during service or start-up. These might cause the surrounding (potentially explosive) atmosphere and all parts of the machine to ignite.
The explosion proof Atex motors (Ex d, Ex de, Ex db, Ex dbeb or Ex tb certified) along with the increased safety motors (Ex e, Ex eb or Ex ec certified) and the non-sparkling motors (Ex na certified) are the most common for the industrial use.
